Steps for Repairing Aquarium Stand

The 60gal tank had a black stand that was damaged when occasionally getting wet during water changes.

As seen, the panels are not real wood.
I glued and clamped the damaged areas with waterproof wood glue.

The bottom was reinforced with treated 2 x 4s. 1 x 3s were added to the sides to help with the new design and with the weight.

The doors were removed and everything was sanded, primed and painted. The primer is for laminated furniture. Before each application of the primer and paint, the previous application was completely dryed.

I thought that carving a design on the doors would give them a nice touch.

Everything was assembled and left to cure for 3 weeks.

Using a molding to frame the tank's bottom.

With a 1 x 6 and molding, I made an opened-top canopy.

Originally, the aquarium covers were used. Then, because of the heat, I decided to adapt the two led lamps to the canopy.

All done!
